1.주 예수 대문 밖에

기다려 섰으나

단단히 잠가 두니

못 들어오시네

나 주를 믿노라고

그 이름 부르나

문 밖에 세워 두니

참 나의 수치라

2.문 두드리는 손은

못 박힌 손이요

또 가시 면류관은

그 이마 둘렸네

이처럼 기다리심

참사랑이로다

문 굳게 닫아 두니

한없는 내 죄라

3.주 예수 간곡하게

권하는 말씀이

네 죄로 죽은 나를

너 박대 할소냐

Out-side the fast-closed door,

In low-ly pa-tience wait-ing

To pass the thresh-old o'er:

Shame on us, Chris-tian broth-ers,

His Name and sign who bear,

O shame, thrice shame up-on us,

To keep Him stand-ing there!

2.O Je-sus, Thou art knock-ing;

And lo! that hand is scarred,

And thorns Thy brow en-cir-cle,

And tears Thy face have marred:

O love that pass-eth knowl-edge,

So pa-tient-ly to wait!

O sin that hath no e-qual,

So fast to bar the gate!
